Deep, textured and quietly assured.
On skin.
It opens green and camphor-cool, then gathers depth: dark patchouli, cocoa and old timber. Clove leaves a dry spark at the edges; on skin, the earthiness settles into something quieter and unexpectedly soft.

Where is the scent hiding?
In the leaf—but not quite in the fresh leaf. Patchouli is cut, dried and then steam-distilled. Time changes it twice: first on the mat, then again as the dark oil rests and rounds.

An imagined scent scene
A drying shed above Tapaktuan, two days after cutting. Patchouli leaves turn on woven mats. The still is fired before dawn; turned earth, cocoa and old timber settle into the air. In the yard, a kretek is lit and left to smoke itself out.
