Nothing worn this close should be anonymous.

We make fragrance for the pleasure of wearing it—and for the curiosity it opens. From our house in Bali, we follow the materials, places and people behind what comes close to skin.

The belief in practice

What a name should carry.

The commitment is to publish what can be verified, keep uncertainty visible, and tell the history with its people still in it.

01

Name the ground

The Six names a central material and its place. Rhun brings several materials into an independent composition; their origins belong in its record.

02

Credit the making

Finished records will name origin, harvest, maker and method wherever those facts can be verified.

03

Leave no invented certainty

When a fact cannot be confirmed, Benjawi will say less rather than invent a cleaner story.

The name returns to matter

Meet the resin behind the name.

Kemenyan is an aromatic resin collected from Styrax trees. It hardens after the bark is tapped. Benzoin brings a warm, balsamic character to perfumery; Kemenyan Sumatra sets that warmth against an impression of cool lake air.

Come first for the scent. Stay for what it opens.

The language of benzoin

A resin, carried through language.

The path from lubān jāwī—Java frankincense—to benzoin passed through ports and languages. These are four forms in that history; the modern house takes its own name from their sound and movement.

The distinction

The name is new. The passage within it is not. Benjawi is a contemporary house name shaped by this linguistic route. It is not presented as an ancient word recovered intact.
